Product: Functional design & selection
of IT-services for the business
Here the businesss operations are analysed with regard to information
and communication. More detailed information requirements are captured
with reference to the operational business design. The business domain
is further analysed to identify the information and communication
that is to be stored in information systems and used by the users.
At this level the information architecture and blueprints are further
elaborated. Thus the current and future business information and
communication is described.
The quality of information requirements matters
a lot to the quality of the resulting IT services. Good analysis
can make up 70% of the endresult. Analysis of the business processes
to be supported and analysis of the information requirements
that are to be captured for the activities within these processes.
HIT has a lot of experience in getting this job done properly.
Through analysis of existing documentation, through workshops
with customers and users and through our structured approach
to capture, classify, elaborate and conclude information requirements.
HIT distincts different requirement types,
such as functional and non-functional, interface and interaction
and make sure all requirements can be traced to the activities
to be supported. When customers and users go through the process
of stating their requirements, they usually get a lot of new
ideas to improve the supported processes as well. Because of
this organizational structures may change as well. The business
to be supported may become a moving target. Therefore we analyse,
capture and document both information requirements and the business
to be supported in conjunction. With clear tracing of the dependencies
between business and requirements, the impact of changes can
be assessed more easily. Enabling highly interactive and iterative
processing of changes in the business to be supported, their
requirements and product features.
HIT supports any business in this process,
but are particularly specialized and experienced in supporting
IT organizations to specify supporting development, service and
system management tooling. Example results are the functional
paragraphs of RFI's, RFP's and tenders. As well we document changes
in the supported business, so their implementation can be synchronized
with the implementation of the supporting IT products and required
changes in IT support. |
