Business, organization and information architecture

Strategy models
There are a lot of techniques and models for strategy management. An overview in one context.

Embedding strategies
Developping your strategy is one thing. Putting it to work in your operations is something else. Is it?

Service Based Costing
Combine the best of both worlds to account and manage the costs of both business and ICT, using one and the same model.

Why modelling?
To manage a modern organization, good modelling is vital to capture, plan and control it's dynamics and complexity.

Architecture comparison
Our architecture products cover and translate into all major architecture frameworks and models.

IEEE 1471 Compliant
All our architecture products are full compliant with the IEEE 1471 standard for architecture descriptions.

About Best Practices
Best practices like ITIL are no guatantee for success, when implementing means copying the outcomes...

Special: IEEE 1471 Compliant Architectures

HIT makes architecture products in accordance with the IEEE 1471 standard for architecture descriptions. Also the latest insights from the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI - Paul Clements e.a.) on viewtypes and architectural styles are applied. Although all were initially intended for the description of software systems, it's use has been commonly accepted for describing business systems as well.

HIT has extended the extended the IEEE-1471 conceptual model of architecture description with the developments from the SEI. (see the UML class diagram on the right). This ensures that the architecture products are compliant with the latest standards and insight in architecture development, enabling complete and structured:

Definition of the business
  • Classification of business aspects (customers/ market, products and services, goods, processes, functions, organization, people,..).
  • Viewtypes for business metaclasses and associations (metamodel).
  • Viewpoints for diagram types to address stakeholder concerns.

Description of the business
  • Architectural analysis of business issues with views for each stakeholder concern, describing relevant business classes and their associations. Illustrated with actual cases of the issues (business objects and links).

Design of the business
  • Blueprints that specify all required changes to address the business issues with views for each stakeholder concern, describing relevant business classes and their associations. Illustrated with simulations of how the busines will operate in addressing the issues (business objects and links).

Organization of the current and future business operations
  • Operational analysis and design of the business with views for each stakeholder concern, describing relevant business classes, objects and their associations and links.
